[Rules Resources]

The resources are listed by category with the primary criteria being that the information and/or service provided must have some relation to Baseball Rules or Officiating.

Web

John Skiltons Baseball Links
Look here for all of your Baseball needs on the Web!! There is an excellent section dedicated to links to Umpire and Rules pages. No Baseball Link page can be complete without this site.
Jim's Baseball Rules Answers
A site dedicated to providing Rules information and interpretations, spend some time going through the page and get your rules questions answered here in a timely manner.
Eteamz: Baseball Rules
The area on the Eteamz site dedicated to Baseball Rules - both OBR and Federation. A very good place to start for any of your Baseball Rules needs.
Major Leage Baseball Official Baseball Rules
You will need to select the rule you are interested in reading or use the search option. MLB seems to significantly change the rules page every couple of years (usually the changes are not for the better), you will probably be better-off going to the Eteamz site than using this one.
Amateur Baseball Umpire Home Page
Excellent overall resource for Baseball Umpires at all levels. You will find recommendations for equipment, books, tips on mechanics, etc..
Handling the Rhubarbs
An interesting "baseball" site from the Netherlands in both English and Dutch hosted by Erick Barkhuis. Among other things International Baseball Tournament information and links and general information about baseball in the Netherlands. Erick retired the weekly rules Quiz in April 1999 after a glorious run of more than two and one half years. I want to thank Erick for the thought provoking questions that he wrote for those quizzes as well as his permission to include them in the Interactive Quiz portion of this site.
The Referee/Umpire Home Page
General resource for officials of all sports.
Rutherford NJ Little League
Look for the "Rules" link on the Homepage for a summary of the most important differences between Little League rules and the official rules of baseball.
NASO (National Association of Sports Officials)
NASO is the only national organization solely dedicated to officiating with membership at all levels of sport.
NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations)
The Official national site for High School activities and athletics. There is only superficial information about Federation Baseball rules on this site but it does give you a source for purchasing various rules related publications. Look for "Focus on the Rules" on the home-page.

Books/Publications

1999 Official Rules of Major League Baseball (ISBN:1-57243-143-1)
The official rulebook of MLB. Available through most major book sellers.
N.A.P.B.L. Umpire Manual (ISBN:1-57243-259-4)
A plethora of information for all umpires with Rules Interpretations, Policies, General Practices, Mechanics and more. A good addition to anyone interested in baseball rules/umpiring beyond the rules book.
Make the Right Call (ISBN:1-57243-112-1)
This is another guide to Rules Interpretations and is officially endorsed by MLB. They differentiate case book rulings between the American and National Leagues, of course this sometimes causes some confusion. Overall, I recommend this book for anyone interested in better understanding the rules.
